ExistentialRiffs tells human stories. Sometimes those stories are sung. Sometimes they're spoken.

The genre serves the story--not the other way around.

New single: Open The Window

Open the Window

Sometimes you look around at the world and think:

Are you 🤬 kidding me?
Everybody is talking. Governments are talking. Companies are talking. News channels are talking. Social media always abuzz. 🫣 But somehow, nobody seems to be listening.

That’s where “Open the Window” came from.

It’s about the things people would rather keep behind closed doors. The stories that get buried. The questions nobody wants asked. The people who are told to sit down, be quiet, and move along.

Yeah. No.

Open the window.

Pull up the blinds.

Turn on the lights.

Because once people start looking—and talking to each other—it gets a whole lot harder to pretend nothing is wrong.

The song is heavy because the subject is heavy. But it isn’t hopeless. That’s what the happy piano is for!  🎹

At its heart, “Open the Window” is about ordinary people realizing that their voices matter.

One person speaks:

Someone else realizes they aren’t alone.

Then another joins.

And another!

Until the thing somebody desperately wanted kept quiet…🤫 isn’t quiet anymore. 🫢

And because this is ExistentialRiffs, naturally we delivered this message with a completely unreasonable amount of bass.

We paid for the 808s! We’re using the 808s!

Turn it up. Open the windows.

Truth don’t stay quiet. 🪟🔥

Love, Exi

New Single: Beautiful Anyway

Beautiful Anyway - Out Now

There's a moment in the bridge that kind of says it all: keys by the doorway / your coat on the chair / proof that someone / enjoys being here.

No grand declaration. No cinematic kiss in the rain. Just a coat on a chair. And somehow, that's everything.

The Song

Beautiful Anyway isn't a love song about falling - it's one about landing. That specific, quietly radical feeling of being with someone who doesn't demand your whole story before they sit down beside you. Someone who leaves the window open and lets the morning do its thing.

This one is for anyone who learned to brace for leaving or being left; who kept certain doors half-closed because they'd learned what happened when they swung wide open. It's not a song that promises a fix - it offers something more honest: the way the blue comes after gray. Not that the gray disappears, but colour returns after a time.

Love That Doesn't Have to Shout

The final chorus lands somewhere we kept coming back to while writing this: love doesn't have to shout to prove that it belongs.

That felt like the whole song in ten words. Beautiful Anyway is about the smaller, steadier thing - the kind that proves itself by staying, by being warm and close, by not making your half-closed doors into a negotiation.

We hope it finds you at the right moment.

Lyrics:

There’s light across the kitchen floor I’ve seen it there a thousand times But somehow it looks softer now With your jacket hanging by the door You don’t ask me where I’ve been Or take my time and stretch it thin You just leave the window open And let the morning do its thing

I used to brace for leaving Even when the room was still Now I catch myself believing Maybe quiet can be real

Isn’t it beautiful anyway? The way the blue comes after gray The way your shoulder finds my shoulder When there’s nothing left to say I don’t need all the answers I don’t need a contract bound Just your breathing next to me In the peaceful moment, the only sound After all that went missing After all the goodness gone Something different emerges And I keep holding on Isn’t it beautiful? Beautiful (anyway)

You laugh low in the hallway Like a flame that doesn’t burn And I feel the old fear loosen Without asking it to relearn There are things I may not tell you There are doors I keep half-closed But you never try to force them You just sit there, warm and close

I used to think that safety Had to come with locks and walls Now it sounds like your footfalls Coming softly down the hall

No reveal No perfect lines No lightning splitting the sky Just keys by the doorway Your coat on the chair Proof that someone Enjoys being here And if love comes softly I won’t turn it away I’ll let it sit beside me Just let it learn my name

Isn’t it beautiful anyway? The way the blue comes after grey The way your hand is close to my hand But doesn’t have to make me stay I don’t need all the answers I don’t need a contract bound Just your breathing next to me In the peaceful moment, the only sound After all that went missing After all the goodness gone Love doesn’t have to shout To prove that it belongs Isn’t it beautiful? Beautiful (anyway)

Beautiful (beautiful) Anyway Beautiful (beautiful) Anyway Beautiful (Anyway)
